Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a senior technologist to join our Japan Automotive & Manufacturing team as a Senior Solutions Architect. In this role, you will lead the technical relationship for world-leading Japanese automotive companies, partnering closely with Global Account Managers to shape and execute multi-year cloud strategies for your accounts.
Your primary focus will be the customers' enterprise IT organizations, where you will drive large-scale migration and modernization of core systems — from portfolio assessment and workload prioritization through to production operations. You will build consensus with senior technical and business stakeholders, and drive execution together with AWS Sales, Service teams, Professional Services, and partners.
Beyond enterprise IT, you will work with the wider AWS account team — Global Account Managers, Business Development, partner teams, and fellow Solutions Architects — to identify and capture line-of-business workloads across the automotive industry, reaching into the customers' business and product organizations to expand what cloud can do for them.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical breadth across enterprise IT, a track record of leading large-scale cloud migrations at major enterprises, and the judgment to know when to dive deep and when to delegate. You should be comfortable operating with significant autonomy, influencing without authority across a matrixed organization, and connecting technology decisions to measurable business outcomes at scale.
If you're ready to shape the cloud journey of companies whose products reach vehicles worldwide, we'd love to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the account-level technical strategy for world-leading Japanese automotive companies, and align it with the account teams' multi-year business plans
- Drive large-scale migration and modernization across the customers' enterprise IT estates — from portfolio assessment and workload prioritization through to production operations
- Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior technical leaders and executives across the customers' IT and business organizations
- Partner with Global Account Managers to develop and execute account strategies that accelerate cloud adoption and revenue growth
- Work with the wider AWS account team — Global Account Managers, Business Development, partner teams, and fellow Solutions Architects — to identify and capture line-of-business workloads across the automotive industry, beyond enterprise IT
- Lead technical deep-dives, architecture reviews, and executive-level workshops that move large initiatives from concept to production
- Act as the technical liaison between the customers and AWS service teams, channeling requirements and feedback into product roadmaps
- Mentor and raise the technical bar for other Solutions Architects on the team
- Publish and present technical content — reference architectures, blog posts, and conference talks — that scales your impact beyond your own accounts
A day in the life
Your week might start with an architecture review with a customer's IT organization on migrating core systems to AWS, move into a working session with one of their business units on what they could build in the cloud, and end with a planning session with your Global Account Manager on where to invest next quarter. Along the way you will pull in colleagues from across AWS — Business Development, partner teams, and Solutions Architects covering adjacent accounts — to spot line-of-business opportunities you can pursue together. You will move between hands-on technical depth and executive conversations, and you will spend time on site with your customers as well as working with AWS service teams to close the gaps that matter to them. You own the technical narrative for your accounts, and you decide where your time creates the most leverage.
