WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role reports directly to the Director, Controller – Japan, and includes one direct report, Senior Accountant – Revenue Accounting. The position partners closely with the Japan Finance team and collaborates across the broader Nike Japan organization, including the Wholesale Sales team and Nike Direct teams (Stores and Digital), to drive strong financial alignment and operational excellence.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike seeks a Manager, Revenue Accounting to join the Japan Revenue Accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting while maintaining a strong and effective internal control environment over financial reporting.
Minimum of 5–6 years of progressive experience with public accounting firms and/or multi-national companies, with preferable experience in Revenue Accounting under United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, strongly preferred with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification
Ability to translate business requirements into operationalization with considerations for financial risks and controls across end-to-end processes
Proven track record of working independently, leading and prioritizing against multiple priorities, while delivering results with high quality
Transformative, process oriented and forward-thinking mindset
Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the ability to communicate clearly with local and global partners
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will ensure timely and accurate month-end close while driving continuous improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of revenue accounting and financial reporting processes. You will also partner closely with managed service providers supporting revenue accounting operations across Asia Pacific Latin America (APLA).
Ensure key financial assertions are met for Revenue Accounting by building and maintaining a robust control framework across transaction streams, including oversight of internal controls over financial reporting, judgmental reserves, and revenue recognition across Wholesale, Retail, and Digital businesses
Support evolving business models, including third-party digital platforms and new wholesale and retail structures such as franchise models, ensuring accurate and compliant revenue accounting treatment
Build strong, collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and organizational levels while applying deep expertise in US GAAP, particularly in revenue accounting
Partner closely with the Senior Accountant and managed service teams to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the month-end close process
Collaborate with the APLA Revenue Accounting team to support global controlling initiatives, including standardization, automation, and centralization
