Job Title: Assistant Finance Manager
Location: Yokohama, Japan - Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office.
Type: Permanent
Due to growth, we are hiring an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Japanese Finance team, working from our Yokohama office on a hybrid basis. As the Assistant Finance Manager supports the Finance Manager and Finance Director in managing the full spectrum of financial accounting, reporting, tax, audit, and project management activities for Japan.
You will also partner closely with the Finance team, Shared Service Centre, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial processes, compliance, and operational efficiency. The role also provides leadership to a small team managing travel expense operations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead monthly and annual financial accounting and reporting activities.

Manage cash operations, including bank transactions and overdraft monitoring.

Oversee accounts receivable overdue control and ensure timely collection.

Manage intercompany receivables, payables, and loan settlements.

Ensure proper control and reconciliation of prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and provisions.

Lead and manage a team of three temporary staff responsible for travel expense governance and processing.

Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely handling of employee expense claims.

Prepare corporate tax returns in collaboration with external tax advisors.

Maintain working knowledge of relevant taxes (corporate, consumption, enterprise, inhabitant, business occupancy, withholding).

Lead the ERP implementation project in Japan.
To be successful in the role, you will have

Demonstratable previous experience within a similar Finance role.

Business-level English proficiency in writing, speaking, and listening (TOEIC 700+ or equivalent).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication.

Ability to translate English to Japanese and reverse.

Prior experience in multinational environments - desirable.

Experience with accounting systems; SAP preferred.

Experience working with external shared service providers.

Familiarity with Concur Expense is an advantage.
