General Description
Application Engineer leads technical interface with the customers in Japan.
- . Coordinating activities and meeting with the customer and being the technical voice for BW with the customer.
- . Ensuring customer deliverables and expectations are clearly defined and communicated back to the product development teams.
- . Ensuring the proper identification and clarification of requirements and participating in product design reviews and test plan/results reviews with the customer.
- . Participating and supporting customer test trips and in the resolution of customer field or testing issues.
Key Roles and Responsibilities

Explanation and presentation of BW products relative to product function and performance to the customer.

Explanation and presentation of OEM product relative to product function and performance to BW organization.
-
Explanation and presentation of BW software, controls and electronics to the customer.

Identification and documentation of customer deliverables and needs (function, timing, expectations) and communicating those back to BW organization
-
Responsible for customer drawing releases and change management
-
Identification and clarification of customer requirement
-
Maintain open issues list and compliance matrix throughout projects
-
Coordinate and support customer technical design reviews
-
Support development of product test plans and review of test results with customer to obtain acceptance.
-
Support prototype and production builds at the customer, including flashing of ECU’s using various tools.

Support vehicle test trips and bench testing with customers.
-
Troubleshooting of vehicle issues.
-
Acquisition and analysis of vehicle data and CAN log files.
-
Support resolution of field problems and test incidents.
Qualifications / Requirements
-
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree)
-
Minimum of 7 years related automotive powertrain experience required
-
Application/system engineering experience preferred.
-
Experience with working with Japanese Automotive OEM’s required
-
Excellent organizational, time management and communication (verbal and written) skills required.

Proficient in English and Japanese language required

Excellent interpersonal skills required
-
Excellent presentation skills required
-
Excellent negotiations skills required
-
Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, CAD, GD&T, Vector tools preferred
