Job Purpose
The Custom Part Designer is responsible for transforming customer requirements into manufacturable, high‑performance Kalrez® sealing solutions. This role encompasses concept design, manufacturability assessment, tooling design, prototype support, and production-scale readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design custom sealing components based on customer requirements, ensuring manufacturability and performance alignment.
- Evaluate manufacturability of new and complex geometries and recommend design optimizations when needed.
- Create production drawings , including dimensions, tolerances, and internal specification alignment.
- Develop prototype tooling and mold designs to support early‑stage development and internal prototyping activities.
- Improve existing products by analyzing issues and implementing corrective design modifications.
- Collaborate across internal functions to support smooth industrialization and scale‑up.
- Maintain organized engineering data in CAD systems and manage a high volume of design tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
Required
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks; Creo).
- Strong technical drawing interpretation and creation skills.
- Solid English communication for global collaboration.
- High sense of urgency, ownership, and ability to manage multiple concurrent design tasks.
- Demonstrated teamwork and cross-functional collaboration ability.
Preferred
- Experience in elastomeric component design or rubber processing (molding, tooling, shrinkage, tolerances).
- Knowledge of Semiconductor, Chemical Processing, or Life Sciences applications.
- Experience working with manufacturers and customer approval workflows.
- Ability and willingness to travel independently (30%).
