As a Project Manager, you will lead complex, global new product development projects from concept through mass-production launch. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world to bring new products to market in alignment with customer requirements and quality, cost, schedule, and profitability targets.
You will be accountable for project scope, schedule, cost, risks, and key decisions throughout the product development process.
Our Team
You will join the PSBU global design organization and work closely with engineers, project team members, and Global Project Managers across design centers, including AME, SIG, and JPN.
This role is expected to involve approximately 80% internal collaboration and 20% engagement with external stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Lead complex, global new product development projects in accordance with the product development process
- Own project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, issues, and achievement of key business targets
- Lead reviews at each development phase and determine readiness to progress, required plan changes, and responses to critical issues
- Develop, maintain, and update project plans, milestones, deliverables, action plans, and risk-mitigation measures
- Identify delays or problems and lead appropriate corrective actions
- Coordinate the build, evaluation, and shipment of EV, DV, and PV prototypes and customer samples
- Manage design changes, project documentation, and change-control records
- Translate complex or unclear requirements and data into an actionable Work Breakdown Structure, with clear owners, tasks, and deadlines
- Coordinate with global sites and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve project issues and meet customer requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve project execution while supporting compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards
- Manage significant risks and issues, escalating them to leadership when appropriate
- Coach and develop engineers and other project team members
- Perform other related duties assigned by management
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Ten or more years of professional experience
- Five or more years of experience leading new product development, program management, or project management activities from concept through mass-production launch
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects within a global organization
- Experience in project planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and problem solving
- Business-level or higher Japanese language proficiency
- English communication skills sufficient to work effectively with global teams
- Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Ability to prepare and deliver concise, effective presentations for customers and internal audiences
- Ability to interpret project scope and organize, estimate, and schedule project work
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
- Ability to think independently, exercise sound judgment, and act proactively
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in electronic components, automotive products, connectors, manufacturing, or industrial technology
- Demonstrated experience leading global new product introduction programs from concept through mass-production launch
- Experience coordinating projects across multiple international design or manufacturing sites
- Experience with Microsoft Project or Power BI
- Experience coaching or developing engineers and project team members
