Appendix
1. The Laboratory of Wood Chemistry, Research Group of Forest Science constitutes the Research Group of
Forest Science Research Group of Forest Science, together with seven other laboratories, namely, Forest Policy,
Silviculture and Forest Ecology, Ecosystem Management, Earth Surface Processes and Land Management,
Woody Plant Biology, Timber Engineering, and Forest Bioresource Technology.
2. The successful applicant will partly or fully give the lectures listed below, for which the Laboratory of Wood
Chemistry is responsible. The laboratory participates in “the Global Education Program for AgriScience
Frontiers” and also provides education only in English.
(1) Subjects in the Graduate School of Agriculture: Study on Agricultural Science I & II, Seminar on
Agricultural Science I & II, Advanced Forest Resources Science, Advanced Forest Products Science I, and
others
(2) Subjects in the School of Agriculture: Wood Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I, Introduction of Polymer
Science, Environmental Chemistry, Laboratory Work on Wood Chemistry, Practical Field Work on Conversion
and Engineering of Forest Products, Field Work on Forest Science I & II, Graduation Thesis, and others.
(3) Subjects in general education: Chemistry II, English Seminar “Introduction to Forest Science”, Freshman
Seminar “Invitation to Forest Science”, and others.
3. The Laboratory of Wood Chemistry aims to gain a fundamental understanding of the various phenomena that
occur during the biosynthesis and biodegradation of woody biomass components by tracking and analyzing
them at the molecular level using techniques from organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and analytical
chemistry. The laboratory also promotes education and research on the efficient utilization of woody biomass,
thereby contributing to the development of a circular society. Currently, the laboratory has three faculty
members: one professor (scheduled to retire in March 2027), one lecturer, and one assistant professor.
4. The Diversity and Inclusion Promotion Headquarters of our university is implementing various initiatives in
addition to the project to subsidize the employment costs of technical assistants as shown in the attached
document.
