With more than 560 students and continued growth, UIA is seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Homeroom Teacher to join our Primary Division. Position Information
Position Title: Primary Homeroom Teacher
Division: Primary Division (Grades 1–5)
Reports to: Head of Primary Division
Employment Type: Full-time Contract
Campus: Kiba Campus, Tokyo
Commencement Date: August 2026
Position Objective
The Primary Homeroom Teacher creates an inclusive, inquiry-based classroom that develops the Cambridge Learner Attributes—confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners.
The successful candidate will teach the Cambridge Primary Curriculum at the appropriate grade level while delivering differentiated lessons that support students' academic, social, and emotional development. Working closely with families and colleagues, the teacher will foster curiosity, collaboration, independence, and resilience in every learner.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to support different learning styles.
- Incorporate inquiry-based, project-based, and experiential learning where appropriate.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Promote student independence, creativity, and critical thinking.
Assessment and Reporting
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Prepare accurate student reports.
- Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences and communicate student progress effectively with families.
Classroom Management & Safeguarding
- Establish clear expectations for learning and behaviour.
- Implement school behaviour management and safeguarding policies consistently.
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Build positive partnerships with parents through regular communication.
Professional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan curriculum and improve teaching practice.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school training.
- Contribute to curriculum continuity across grade levels.
- Support co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
School Organisation
- Supervise students as required.
- Participate in experiential learning activities, including excursions, Week Without Walls, Sports Day, and other school events.
- Actively contribute to House activities, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Graduation ceremonies, and other community events.
求める人材:
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject area from an accredited university.
- Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., M.Ed., or equivalent).
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
Preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of full-time teaching experience.
- Experience teaching in an international school and/or Cambridge school.
- Familiarity with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum.
- Experience using educational technology and digital learning platforms.
- Experience with inquiry-based and student-centered teaching approaches.
