Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated GaN Technology Development Engineer to lead development of next-generation GaN power devices. This role focuses on unit process development, process integration, and wafer-level electrical characterization, driving technology from early concept through qualification and manufacturing readiness.
The candidate will work cross-functionally with device design, process modules, reliability, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance, manufacturable GaN technologies.
1. Unit Process Development
Develop and optimize GaN unit processes (e.g., lithography, etch, deposition, metallization, epitaxy) to meet device performance and reliability targets
Define process conditions, materials, and metrology requirements for each module
Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and analyze results to establish robust process window Drive process characterization, including film, interface, and defect analysis
2. Process Integration
Design, develop, and own end-to-end wafer fabrication flow for GaN devices
Integrate process modules into a manufacturable, high-yield technology platform
Define process sequences, thermal budgets, and interaction effects across modules
Identify integration gaps and drive cross-functional solutions with module engineers
Support technology transfer from R&D into production and ensure successful ramp
3. On-Wafer Testing & Characterization
Define and implement PCM/test structures for process evaluation and device correlation Perform wafer-level electrical characterization including:
DC I-V, CV measurements
Pulsed I-V / reliability stress testing
Correlate electrical performance to process parameters and material properties Analyze inline, electrical, and parametric data to identify yield limiters and reliability risks
4. Technology Development & Optimization
Develop and optimize GaN device structures (e.g., HEMTs) to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets. Lead wafer lot experimentation, test chip evaluation, and iterative improvement cycles
Perform data-driven analysis to improve yield, variation control, and manufacturability
Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations
Qualifications
English proficiency - Can engage in business conversation (around TOEIC 700 points)
Japanese proficiency - Can engage in business conversation (around JLPT Grade 2)
