As a Field Application Engineer for Vehicle Sensing Solutions in Japan, you will support the design and application of automotive sensors. You will act as a key technical interface with customers while collaborating globally with engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Our Team
You will be part of the Japan Design Center within the Transportation Innovative Solutions, Vehicle Sensing Solutions team. This team collaborates closely with global engineering groups in North America and India, as well as cross-functional partners in sales, marketing, and product management.
What You Will Do
- Lead technical communication with automotive and selected industrial customers
- Support design and application development of automotive sensors
- Coordinate with global engineering teams across regions
- Create and manage technical documentation for design and testing reviews
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to develop new product proposals
- Support customer training, technical enablement, and on-site testing
- Drive production readiness activities including DFx (design for reliability, manufacturing, assembly, and testability)
- Support quality activities such as root-cause analysis and issue escalation
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in sensor or electrical module development within the automotive industry
- Strong system-level thinking with experience defining architecture or requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
- Self-starter with ability to lead projects and engage with customers
- Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
What Will Put You Ahead
- 5+ years of electrical or mechanical engineering experience in automotive
- Product design experience in automotive sensors
- Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience working with Japanese OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
- PCB design experience (e.g., Altium or equivalent tools)
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI, FMEA, DRBFM
