Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics の Technical Service & Development(TS&D)チームでは、ダウ日本開発センター(JDC) 勤務の シニア R&D/TS&D テクニシャン を募集しています。
本ポジションでは、ラボでの実験業務を担当し、TS&Dメンバーと密接に協力しながら、エラストマー(ICT)および包装材関連顧客に対して、アプリケーション開発、技術サービス、トラブルシューティングに関する技術支援を提供します。
安全かつ効率的なラボ運営を実践し、チームの一員として協力的かつ効果的に業務を遂行することが求められます。

About you and this role
Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics Technical Service & Development (TS&D) team is now open for a position as a Senior R&D/TS&D Technician in Yokohama, Japan Dow Center (JDC). This role will perform experimental operation in lab, working closely with TS&Ds to provide technical support to Elastomer and Packaging customers, in terms of application development, technical service and trouble shooting. This role requires operation in a safe and efficient manner, working in a team closely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Follow operating discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation in lab. Serve as the Environmental, Health & Safety advocate, ensures understanding and adherence to policies and procedures, willing to be the model of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.

Perform lab tests utilizing lab equipment and test capabilities including

Resin properties tests including density, melt index, DSC, FTIR, microscope, etc.

Familiar with plastic and rubber compounding, mixing, etc. and understand Film fabrication
-
Develop experimental plans for review by TS&D and execute approved plans by performing routine and non-standard tasks or procedures of higher complexity.
-
Communicate scientific observations to project team or principal investigator, and organize and prepare data tables and charts for inclusion in supported studies. Summarize, report and document the test results properly and clearly.

Responsible for daily lab routine work including sample inventory and delivery equipment maintenance/documentation, Lab 5S and EHS activity.

Support TS&D to develop and improve test methods and capabilities.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, material science or related fields.
-
5 years+ chemical lab experience with skills of chemical and polymer basic properties characterization, lab equipment operation and maintenance.

Basic English written skills for technical report and daily email communication.

Good communication skills and teamwork spirit to ensure that the lab tests are clearly understood, performed, summarized, reported and documented timely and effectively

Chemical Lab EHS and 5S relevant experience would be a plus
