Elev8 Japan is a premium small-group international education camp based in Nihonbashi-Hamacho, Tokyo. We provide seasonal holiday programmes for children aged 5–12, combining structured learning with creativity, movement, games, outdoor activities, and weekly excursions.
Our core learning modules include Mathematics, Coding & Programming, English Language & Communication, and Japanese Language & Culture. Children are placed in small groups based on age, level, confidence, and learning needs, with a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 5:1.
We are currently looking for reliable, experienced, and professional mathematics teachers to join our seasonal camp team.
This role is focused on helping children develop mathematical confidence, problem-solving ability, logical thinking, and enjoyment of learning. Lessons may include arithmetic, number sense, shapes, measurement, fractions, word problems, puzzles, logic, mental maths, mathematical games, and extension challenges for more advanced students.
This is not a passive classroom role. Elev8 is an active camp environment, so teachers are also expected to support children throughout the day, including transitions, lunch, breaks, activities, outdoor play, and excursions.
Main responsibilities include:
- Teaching small-group mathematics lessons to children aged 5–12
- Supporting numeracy, arithmetic, problem-solving, logic, puzzles, and mathematical reasoning
- Helping children build confidence and reduce anxiety around mathematics
- Adapting prepared materials to suit each child’s age, level, confidence, and learning style
- Providing extension challenges for stronger students where appropriate
- Supporting children who need more patient, step-by-step explanation
- Creating a positive, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere
- Using games, projects, and hands-on activities to make mathematics enjoyable
- Supervising children during lunch, breaks, indoor activities, and outdoor play
- Supporting park visits, local activities, and full-day excursions when assigned
- Assisting with arrival, dismissal, and station chaperone duties when required
- Communicating clearly and professionally with the management team and other staff
- Reporting any concerns about student behaviour, safety, wellbeing, or participation promptly
- Contributing positively to the wider camp culture

The Mathematics programme is designed to be engaging and confidence-building. We do not want children to feel that maths is just worksheets and pressure. We want them to discover that maths can be logical, creative, useful, and fun.
The camp combines academic learning with creative projects, games, physical activity, and real-world experiences around Tokyo. Children do not simply sit in a classroom all day. They learn, move, create, communicate, and explore.

Preferred:

- Experience teaching arithmetic, word problems, logic, puzzles, geometry, fractions, or mathematical reasoning
- Experience working with bilingual or multilingual children
- Experience helping children who lack confidence in mathematics
- Experience preparing extension activities for advanced students
- English communication ability
- Japanese communication ability
- First aid, safeguarding, or child safety training
- Availability for multiple weeks during June, July, or August
We are especially interested in applicants who are mature, dependable, and able to bring calm, positive energy to a busy camp environment.
勤務時間・曜日:
Shifts are scheduled between 8:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
Typical working day: 8–9 scheduled working hours per day, with breaks.
Actual start and finish times may vary depending on assigned duties, chaperone responsibilities, excursions, training, and weekly camp schedule.
Staff are generally asked to commit by full camp weeks, Monday to Friday.
休暇・休日:
Camp is held on weekdays only.
Saturday and Sunday are normally days off.
Work schedules are based on assigned camp weeks and will be confirmed in advance. This role is suitable for teachers who are available during school holiday periods, especially summer, spring, and winter breaks.

給与:
¥17,000–¥25,00 per day
Salary is based on experience, teaching ability, qualifications, and assigned responsibilities. Opportunities for increases during contract.
Social insurance: Not enrolled. This role is an independent contractor / gyomu-itaku position, not an employee position. Contractors are responsible for their own national health insurance, pension, employment insurance, and other social insurance obligations.

Elev8 is currently recruiting mathematics teachers for its seasonal camp programmes, especially during the summer period from June to August.
Applicants do not need to be available for the entire summer, but we prefer candidates who can commit to full camp weeks and ideally multiple weeks.
