We are looking for motivated people (Mates) with strong English skills and a desire to share their language and culture with a wide range of Japanese customers (our members) in a relaxed and casual conversation café setting. No suits required, of course!
Position Details and Responsibilities:
Our Mates' main duty is to lead conversations between small groups in English, encouraging the members to improve their English while enjoying exchanging culture, stories and experiences as well as connecting with other people. We are an inclusive community and welcome anyone who would like to join. Meaning, we have a wide range of members and Mates are required to be comfortable conversing with a variety of personalities and perspectives.
To us, your communication skills, enthusiasm and positivity is of more importance than that of formal teaching experience. Therefore, anyone with a passion for communication in English is more than welcome to apply!!
Mates are expected to:
- Facilitate group conversations for Japanese English speakers of various skill levels in our cafe branches and also online through Zoom meeting.
- Assist in the hosting of events.
- Learn to use our applications to assist with service operations
- Be able to cover at least 3 shifts per week (there is no cap for those of you who would like to work more).
- Willing to travel to the working location(s) in Tokyo.
- Open to working online (through Zoom meeting).

LanCul has been in the English Cafe business since 2012 and has expanded to over a dozen branches across Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka.

Qualifications
- Fluent English speaker (can be non-native).
- Able to lead a conversation on various topics.
- Able to interact and engage with various kinds of people.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility.
- Flexible, adaptive and open to new ideas in an innovative environment.
- Work Visa valid for at least 6 months.
- Must have a working smart phone with a data plan. (laptop and Zoom account for online shifts)
勤務時間・曜日:
We are specifically looking for candidates that can work online and in our Yokohama cafe/branch.
Online: conducting English sessions through Zoom (every shift will be 2 hours, flexible)
Cafe: conducting English sessions in the cafe (2 hours/day; 4 days/ week)

We have shift market system for exchange shifts due to your schedule/plan which provides flexibility of work.

Please note that this position will require you to work at our branch in Tokyo. Our Mates are assigned a team according to their home address.
*Visa support opportunities are also available if you work longer with us.
