ABOUT UNRAVEL CARBON
Unravel Carbon is an Agentic AI enterprise software for calculating, tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, with a focus on helping companies decarbonise and develop strong climate change strategies. Our measurement platform has a core engine used to automate the calculation of Scope 3 emissions and obtaining data from supply chains. Supporting parts of the platform provide data for climate related decision making and documenting climate risk disclosures. It is powered by Agentic AI and at the cutting edge of what is possible from a software point of view. ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Sustainability Consultant for our Japan expansion who will be the domain expert as we partner to help with enterprise clients to help them measure, track and decarbonise. You will be responsible primarily for customer delivery; calculating the carbon footprints of our customers, developing their emission reduction recommendation plans and determining their optimised decarbonisation pathways. You will be instrumental for customer success by accurately and efficiently providing our customers with evidence that they can act on - using the Unravel Carbon software as the key source of information. You will also provide input to the development of the Unravel Carbon software, AI Agents supporting the software outputs and general climate policy and approach - as it informs the strategy and responses of our customers.
As one of the early hires, and first team members in Japan you will be in a great position to learn about the inner workings of Unravel Carbon and gain operational exposure. You will be dealing directly with prospects and customers from the start, learn quickly, and make a real difference in our climate emergency fight.
- Assist companies in Japan, and across Asia-Pacific with data capture, analysis and advice relating to corporate and product emissions inventories - and using this data to inform sustainability and climate disclosures
- Develop net-zero roadmaps and emission reduction plans - using the Unravel Carbon platform to document those
- Input into ongoing development of the Unravel Carbon platform and the work we do
- General research support
- Support the commercial team as the sustainability domain expert when meeting with prospects
- Support our customers on the topics of net-zero, ESG and TCFD/IFRS/SSBJ reporting
- Work with Chief Sustainability Officer and Director of Sustainability on climate policy positioning where required
- Take responsibility to independently serve our customers and support future sustainability consultants in Japan
ABOUT YOU
- Fluency in English and Japanese written and oral communication skills
- You have working knowledge of the GHG Protocol plus at least one of the following topics:
- Corporate climate risk analysis and disclosure (GRI, ISSB, CDP etc.)
- Product carbon footprint and life-cycle assessment
- Decarbonisation efforts and energy efficiency
- You have excellent numerical skills and strong proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets, a methodical approach and can work independently
- You care about data integrity and quality
- You have a lot of curiosity, common sense and a broad understanding of carbon, climate and sustainability issues
- You're excited by the opportunity of an early-stage startup and faster development than a typical sustainability consultancy would provide
- You can engage people from different backgrounds and with different agendas
- Advantageous to be confident in communicating with customers and excel at organisation, in order to take more direct ownership of customer success including scheduling meetings and leading kick-off and debrief sessions
- You have high integrity, care about real climate impact, and can guide customers on this journey
YOUR WORK STYLE
- An understanding of agile product development
- Analytical and detail-oriented, and fully capable of navigating and combining various datasets to pull out key insights
- Self-starter (proactive and independent) with an ability to prioritize different assignments and tasks to meet deadlines

YOUR PREFERRED BACKGROUND
- You have a bachelor and preferably a masters in sustainability, environmental engineering or climate science related field, or equivalent experience.
- You have 2-8 years of work experience, ideally in Sustainability Consulting focusing on corporate carbon accounting and/or climate change advisory
- Experience with climate risk analysis and transition risks will be very highly regarded

Standard working hours: 9:00-18:00 (including 1-hour break for Lunch)
Flextime system available when necessary:
- Start time: 5:00-12:00
- End time: 14:00-22:00
- Break time: Minimum 1 hour during working hours
