The function is responsible for managing Group Network Development and dealer business improvement activities for Volkswagen Group Japan, primarily across the Volkswagen and Audi dealer networks. The role develops and monitors long-term network strategies, supports new dealer and investor development, maintains strong dealer and business partner relationships, and contributes to a sustainable, efficient, and financially healthy dealer network. Key responsibilities include managing Network Development activities and contracts, expanding BEV charging infrastructure, ensuring CI/CD and facility compliance, supporting cross-brand network projects, overseeing dealer-facing systems such as DMS and CRM, and conducting dealer audits and mystery shopping activities. The role also analyzes BMRS data, recommends dealer business improvement measures, prepares regular reporting and risk management updates, and works closely with Sales, After Sales, dealers, investors, and internal management functions to ensure strategic alignment, operational compliance, customer experience quality, digital readiness, and long-term network sustainability.
【Main Responsibility】
1) Supervise and facilitate the network strategy planning by proposing several alternatives created based on the analysis on market share data, competitor’s network status etc. and conduct the network development projects according to the outcome of the strategy planning for both VW and Audi.
2) Network Development project type-1:
-Recruit new investors or appoint an investor from existing business partners in order to cover open area by conducting a series of pitch process with several candidates and select the most appropriate candidate by evaluating proposed business plan including the showroom planning, financial stability, reliability as business partner etc.
-And finally align the result of the selection with top management of the respective brand (VW or Audi).
3) Network Development project type-2:
-Replace the existing non-performing dealer with a new investor or with one of the existing business partners by simple termination or Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) according to the situation.
-Make a concrete plan to execute the network reorganization process (consolidation or cancellation) avoiding any legal risks and conduct the pitch to select the business successor following aforesaid selection process for Network Development project type-1.
4) Network Development project type-3:
-Existing dealer facility enhancement by relocation and/or refurbishment, or/and rebuilding. Negotiate with investors for the investment and conduct the building projects by involving relevant departments and external suppliers to carry out the rebuilding projects smoothly.
-Get the approval from local VW or Audi top management and from VW AG or Audi AG relevant department.
5) Dealer Contract Management:
-Finalize dealer contract contents or amendment contents based on the master document provided by VW AG or Audi AG HQ in collaboration with relevant departments and 3rd party legal firm.
-After the signing, monitor the execution of agreed condition on the contract and take corrective action if necessary for both brands.
6) Charging Network Development:
-Facilitate topics related to the charging alliance in collaboration with Porsche Japan and supervise planning as well as execution of the Charging Network strategy in collaboration with existing dealer network, group brands (Porsche and VW) and 3rd party charging infrastructure providers. Further supervise and manage all the contractual operations in relation to the charging network expansion across the brands and entities and establish BEV related infrastructure such as Battery Competence Center (BCC).
7) Lead the projects to develop and upgrade the DMS (Dealer Management System) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management System), as project owner by supervising dedicated project management team and make sure that project is carried out in a timely manner with required quality in each necessary function of both brands.
8) Monitoring dealer profitability by managing BMRS, ensuring accurate financial data input, analyzing dealer performance, and identifying measures to improve profitability. Distributing BMRS-based financial reports including risk management reports using VFJ financial status data.
9) Supervise execution of annual online and on-site retail audit for all Audi and Volkswagen dealerships in Japan, communicates audit processes, findings, results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, and analyzes outcomes to follow up with dealers that do not meet required standards, and manages related mystery shopping vendors.
10) Supervise execution of annual mystery shopping activities for Audi and Volkswagen dealerships in Japan in line with brand requirements, communicates results to stakeholders, follows up with dealers that fail mystery shopping, and manages related mystery shopping vendors.
11) Supervise development activities relating to the key digital projects within the digital customer journey such as e-commerce platform implementation, myAudi, Audi Connect, Vehicle Transaction Platform etc. under Group Network Management control.
