Position Overview Renesas Electronics is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Factory Gas and Chemical Handler to join our semiconductor manufacturing facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe receipt, storage, distribution, delivery, and disposal of specialized bulk/specialty gases and chemical materials used in cleanroom microchip production.
Key Responsibilities Chemical & Gas Distribution:
Perform safe cylinder exchanges and delivery of high-purity specialty gases (e.g., silane, ammonia, fluorine mixes) to process tools and chemical distribution systems.
Operate bulk chemical distribution systems (BCDS), chemical delivery cabinets, and gas pad delivery systems.
Execute daily chemical totes, drums, and carboy refills and transfers.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including full chemical suit, Level A/B hazmat gear, and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) when required.
Conduct routine chemical/gas area inspections and leak detection checks.
Serve as a active member of the site Emergency Response Team (ERT) for chemical spills, gas leaks, or hazardous material incidents and Inventory & Hazardous Waste Management.
Monitor toxic gas monitoring systems (TGMS) and respond immediately to alarms.
Perform basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on gas cabinets, chemical pumps, valves, and manifold systems.
Qualifications & Skills:
1.
High School Diploma or any graduate discipline equivalent. (Engineer degree is overqualified)
2.
min 6 months of experience handling industrial chemicals or bulk/compressed gases in a manufacturing environment (Semiconductor, High-Tech, Pharmaceutical, or Chemical Industry experience. Semiconductor industry preferred).
3.
Ability to work rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as required by 24/7 manufacturing operations.
4.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver heavy gas cylinders and chemical drums using proper material handling equipment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
1.
Work takes place in a mix of cleanroom environments, chemical storage pads, sub-fab areas, and loading docks.
2.
Requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
3.
Must be comfortable working around hazardous, flammable, corrosive, and toxic substances under strict safety controls.
