This is an excellent opportunty to join an established team under a senior bengoshi, at a major name in healthcare technology. You will be a close advisor to the business, offering creative solutions to commercial and regulatory-focused legal issues. The main responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide practical legal advice to business teams across a range of commercial and corporate matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and support strategic business transactions
- Advise on legal, regulatory, compliance, competition law, and risk management issues
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant
- Support dispute resolution and coordinate with external legal counsel when required
- Assist with corporate governance, board-related matters, and internal policies
- Deliver legal guidance and training to promote compliance and business best practices
- Partner with internal stakeholders to enable business growth while managing legal risk

The key requirements for success in this role are as folows:
- Licensed attorney in Japan (bengoshi)
- Fluent Japanese and business-level English communication skills
- Around 4–8 years of post-qualification experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal environment
- Experience advising businesses operating in healthcare or life sciences
- A proactive, solutions-oriented professional who can work independently while building strong relationships across the business
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for understanding a technology-driven, highly regulated industry
Preferred
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, competition law, or commercial legal matters
- Exposure to dispute resolution or litigation management
- Experience collaborating with international teams or working in a global business environment
