WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role reports directly to the Director, Controller – Japan and leads the Senior Accountant – Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting. The Manager partners closely with the Japan Finance team and collaborates across Nike Japan, including Logistics and Nike Planning (Inventory Operations), to strengthen financial alignment, support informed decision-making, and drive operational excellence.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is looking for a Manager, Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting to join the Japan Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership approach. This role is responsible for ensuring complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting while maintaining a robust and effective internal control environment over financial reporting.
- Minimum of 5-6 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or multinational organizations, preferably with experience in Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting under United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, strongly preferred with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical solutions while identifying and addressing financial risks and controls across end-to-end processes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality results
- A forward-thinking, process-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and transformation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the ability to communicate effectively with local and global stakeholders
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will lead timely and accurate month-end close activities while continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting and financial reporting processes. You will partner with managed service providers supporting accounting operations across Asia Pacific Latin America (APLA), strengthen key controls, and help enable informed business decisions.
- Ensure key financial assertions are achieved for Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting by building and maintaining a robust control framework across transaction streams. You will oversee internal controls over financial reporting, judgmental reserves, supply chain-related investments, and product cost accounting treatments.
- Evaluate evolving business models, including third-party royalties and complementary products, and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for supply chain-related transactions.
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and organizational levels while applying deep expertise in US GAAP, particularly in Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting.
- Partner closely with the Senior Accountant and managed service provider to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the month-end close process.
- Collaborate with the APLA Supply Chain and Inventory Accounting team to advance global controlling initiatives, including standardization, automation, and centralization.
