This is an exciting standalone legal role for a major foreign premium goods group. You will use your broad experience in legal affairs to advise management and work with the global legal function to manage relationships with varied stakeholders in Japan. The main responsibilities are as follows:
- Overseeing the negotiation and drafting of commercial legal contracts
- Representing the company with external groups on legal matters
- Handling complaints and claims against the company and managing the dispute resolution process
- Advising management in Japan and overseas on current and future legal topics and risks
- Supporting human resources on employment law related affairs
- Working with external counsel as required
The successful candidate will have:
- 10+ years of experience in legal function
- Formal legal education preferred (attorney qualification not necessary)
- Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese
- Strong negotiating skills with a proven track record of working independently
