This exciting role covers legal and regulatory matters for the business of this major multinational corporation for Japan and some APAC markets. Reporting to the head of legal & compliance, the main responsibilities are as follows:
- Negotiate and draft legal documentation with business teams and outside parties advising on legal risk and compliance with internal processes and external regulations
- Provide expert legal advice on legal matters to do with regulatory issues, commercial activity, litigation and corporate governance
- Work with colleagues in Japan, APAC and global legal functions to provide up-to-date legal advice and guidance on strategic commercial activity
- Give corporate secretarial support, ensure effective maintenance of a strong corporate governance profile and take a prominent role in company-wide ethics and compliance training

Successful candidates will have some, if not all, of the following:
- 8+ years of relevant experience as a corporate lawyer with major companies or law firms
- Qualified to practice as a lawyer in Japan or other common law jurisdictions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to a wide audience
- Native-level Japanese with fluent English language skills
- Proven ability to provide legal solutions to complicated and ambiguous commercial situations
- Knowledge of legal matters related to the technology industry and relevant contracts is advantageous but not a must
