Teslaは、日本エネルギー事業チームの一員として、電力取引市場/蓄電池政策アドバイザーを募集します。このポジションは、蓄電池関連の規制、電力取引市場運用、政策イニシアチブに注力し、Teslaのエネルギー製品の日本での展開を加速させるものです。主に、APAC政策チームおよびMegapackエネルギー事業チームと密接に連携し、系統用蓄電池プロジェクトを支援します。また、当社の先進的なアルゴリズム取引プラットフォーム「Autobidder」を活用し、日本の電力取引市場へのMegapackの統合を加速します。Autobidderは、価格予測、市場トレンド分析、リアルタイム運用最適化により、Megapackの価値を最大化します。さらに、必要に応じて、住宅用エネルギー製品（蓄電池、EV充電器等）に関する政策や規制面でのサポートを行い、テスラのVPPサービスやエコシステム構築の推進に貢献します。

主な業務内容

蓄電池ビジネスの展開を拡大するための公共政策および戦略を策定し、TeslaのEnergy Productsのための新たな市場機会を創出する。

エネルギー市場の規制・立法動向を監視・分析し、ワークショップや規制手続きに積極的に参加して系統用蓄電池向け市場設計を形成する。また、最新の電力取引市場のルール変更をAutobidderエンジニアに伝え、アルゴリズム更新および設計をガイドする。

必須スキル・経験

What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an Industrial Energy Market (Policy) Adviser to join the Japan Energy Team, focusing on regulatory, electricity market operations, and policy initiatives across Japan to accelerate the deployment of Tesla’s energy products. This role will primarily support grid-scale battery energy storage projects through close collaboration with the APAC Policy and Megapack Energy Teams. This role will also accelerate the integration of our energy storage systems into Japanese electricity markets through Autobidder, our advanced algorithmic trading platform. Autobidder maximizes the value of storage by forecasting prices, analyzing market trends, and optimizing operations in real time. Additionally, the position may involve supporting Tesla’s residential energy interests as needed, contributing to the company’s mission of advancing sustainable energy solutions.
This position is highly cross-functional and critical to Tesla’s expansion into new energy markets.
We’re looking for a driven professional with strong market knowledge, proven regulatory experience, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.
What You’ll Do
Develop government policy and strategies to scale deployment of battery energy storage and create new market opportunities for Tesla’s industrial products
Monitor and analyze regulatory and legislative developments in energy markets; actively participate in workshops and regulatory proceedings to shape market designs for energy storage assets. Additionally, communicating the latest electricity market rule changes to Autobidder engineers to guide algorithm updates and design.
Represent Tesla’s interests in public forums and engage proactively with policymakers, regulatory commissions, utilities, trade groups, and external stakeholders to advance energy storage initiatives through regulatory filings and legislation. Cultivate Tesla’s relationships and standingstand with regulatory authorities, system operators and business partners.
Foster effective collaboration with Tesla’s policy, business development, market operations, and software and hardware engineering teams on policy and regulatory matters , and build scalable business functions aligned with Tesla’s fast-paced execution culture.
Partner with Autobidder engineering and commercial teams to design business processes that enable successful market entry and electricity market operations for battery energy storage projects.
Support regulatory and operational compliance efforts to upload and enhance Tesla’s reputation in the market
What You’ll Bring
5-10+ years of relevant work experience in the electricity or energy industry
Degree in a field relevant to energy, political science, economics, engineering, or utility business models, or equivalent experience (Masters, Juris Doctor, or other advanced degree preferred)
Strong understanding of Japanese electricity markets and energy trading, especially for energy storage operation.
Experience with advising trading in the JEPX and EPRX markets, especially for front-of-meter battery storage assets, and the ability to support engineers to translate complex market rules into automated algorithms is a strong plus
Deep knowledge of electric utility regulations, network system operations, utility resource planning processes, and interconnection rules
Working knowledge of utility planning processes and ability to advocate for energy storage policies at the government level (preferred: candidates with demonstrated specific policy outcomes through prior work)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in English and in Japanese
Familiarity with developing compliance and risk management frameworks, with the ability to identify and mitigate regulatory risks that affect the business
Highly energetic personality with the ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
