Key Responsibilities
- Remote Consultations: Conduct video or phone medical consultations for non-emergency conditions.
- Case Management: Review patient medical histories, coordinate second opinions, and manage treatment plans.
- Bilingual Communication: Communicate fluently in English with patients or global medical teams, and liaise in Japanese when dealing with local Japanese healthcare providers or records.
- Referrals: Direct patients to appropriate physical clinics, emergency rooms, or specialists within Japan's healthcare network.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Medical License: Active valid medical license (Japanese Ish免許 is often required for direct diagnosis, or an overseas license for advisory/case-management roles). [1]
- Language Skills: Native/Fluent English proficiency; conversational to business-level Japanese (often JLPT N2 or higher) to read local records and coordinate care. [1, 2]
- Experience: 2+ years of clinical practice or telehealth experience.
- Soft Skills: Strong digital literacy, cross-cultural communication, and empathy for expatriate or tourist patients.
