About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing international hotel investment, management, and operating company headquartered in Singapore, recognized as one of the leading and fastest-growing midscale hotel chains in Asia. They currently manage more than 4,000 rooms across 6 countries and 15+ gateway cities throughout the Asia Pacific region. As they continue their global expansion, our client is looking for a highly analytical, passionate, and ambitious Senior E-Commerce & Distribution Manager to join their team in Japan.
About the Role
In this role, you will drive online sales and distribution strategy across proprietary and non-proprietary digital channels in Japan. As part of the HQ corporate team, you will build the brand's online awareness among core Japanese travelers and lead the development of an ideal digital distribution channel mix for the Japan consumer market. Reporting to the Singapore headquarters, you will collaborate closely with both the local Japan team and colleagues across South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
The ideal candidate has a strong track record in growing B2C online-travel businesses (especially in hospitality), deep knowledge of how Japanese travelers book accommodation and travel, and a genuine passion for revolutionizing travel through digital technology.
Responsibilities
Market Launcher & Strategic Role
- Build and lead the Japan Go-To-Market strategy in line with company strategic direction on a yearly basis.
- Manage effective digital distribution with key local B2C online partners and direct channels in Japan.
- Lead negotiation and joint-business planning with strategic distribution partners to increase brand awareness and trial among Japanese travelers.
- Identify, develop, and unlock new digital distribution partners with sizable demand and relevant travel corridors.
- Co-drive successful hotel pre-opening projects in Japan on digital sales and marketing.
Market Insight & Custodian Role
- Represent the company at Japan business-to-business delegations and summits.
- Deliver regular weekly performance reports and local market insights based on empirical and data-driven analysis to improve hotel market penetration (MPI).
- Conduct competitor audits and in-depth cross-channel promotion analysis to identify hotel competition, OTA market demand trends, and opportunities.
Operational Excellence Role
- Manage, audit, and improve hotel digital content across all B2C platforms in the Japanese language.
- Safeguard operational metrics (ranking, cancellation rate, reviews, price positioning) across Japan's digital platforms to accelerate conversion.
- Design and propose pre-planned promotions across key digital platforms to drive incremental revenue and profitability.
- Manage supply-demand platform connectivity, escalating and troubleshooting with technology vendors as needed.
- Nurture and maintain designated brand price parity across all online distribution platforms in Japan.
- Champion a zero-error culture in operations and system setup, driving continuous improvement toward OTA promotion excellence and zero rate leakage.
- Manage and improve third-party cost of sale to optimize revenue and reduce overhead.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Psychology, Public Relations, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM field from a reputable university.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in local OTAs, hotel digital/commercial roles, or a reputable hospitality, OTA, or consulting firm.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end projects with strong KPI outcomes, focused on delivering results.
- Excellent attention to detail with a data- and hypothesis-driven mindset.
- Strong multitasking and project management skills.
- Enthusiasm for rapid experimentation and continuous iteration to uncover new opportunities.
- Resourceful, with strong grit and a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills; high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with SQL, Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar tools is a strong plus.
- Excellent English and Japanese communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional, multicultural teams.
勤務時間・曜日:
This role follows standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (JST), including a one-hour lunch break, totaling 40 hours per week. As this position works closely with our Singapore headquarters and regional teams across South Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, some flexibility around core hours may be required to accommodate cross-timezone calls and coordination.
