Appendix
1. The Laboratory of Pathogen-Plant Interactions constitutes the Research Group of Agrobiology and Bioresources.
The research group consists of ten laboratories, namely, Crop Science, Crop Physiology, Plant Pathology,
Horticultural Science, Ornamental Plants and Landscape Architecture, Animal Ecology, Systematic Entomology,
Plant Genetics and Evolution, Cell Biology and Manipulation, and Pathogen-Plant Interactions. These laboratories
conduct education and research in the field of agrobiology and bioresources in cooperation with each other.
2. The successful applicant will partly or fully give the lectures listed below, for which the Laboratory of Pathogen-
Plant Interactions is responsible. The laboratory participates in “the Global Education Program for AgriScience
Frontiers” and also provides education only in English.
(1) Subjects in the Graduate School of Agriculture: Advanced General Agricultural Plant Science, Advanced
Seminar on Agricultural Plant Science, Advanced Biotechnology, Advanced Seminar on Biotechnology, Study
on Agricultural Science I・II, Seminar on Agricultural Science I・II, and others.
(2) Subjects in the School of Agriculture: Plant Disease Etiology, Plant Virology, Laboratory Work on
Agrobiology and Bioresources I・II, Experiments in Biology and Chemistry I・II, Biological Training, Seminar
on Agrobiology and Bioresources I・II・III・IV, Graduation Thesis, and others.
(3) Subjects in general education: Freshman Seminar and others.
3. The Laboratory of Pathogen-Plant Interactions conducts education and research on plant viruses and voroids. In
particular, the research focuses on elucidating the roles of their genome structures and replication mechanisms
in pathogenicity, their effects on host gene expression, and the molecular mechanisms underlying disease
severity and the development of resistance in host plants. Furthermore, based on these research findings, the
laboratory is engaged in the development of diagnostic and disease management technologies for viral and
viroid diseases, as well as in their applications in biotechnology.
4. The Diversity and Inclusion Promotion Headquarters of our university is implementing various initiatives in
