Position Title: Protestant Music Director
Job Type: Part-Time
Location: Misawa Air Base Chapel, Building 358, Misawa AB, Japan
The candidate shall have at minimum:

A degree or academic background in music or at least 1 year of prior experience as a worship music director.

Ability to lead a praise band, worship team, and congregational singing.

Ability to read written music and perform accurately in melody, tempo, and rhythm.

Experience with church music, hymnology, traditional worship music, and contemporary worship music.

Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to pass required technical proficiency evaluation.

Ability to obtain required base access, CAC, background checks, and complete required Government training.
The candidate must:

Provide musical direction for weekly Protestant Sunday worship services.

Lead weekly Protestant worship rehearsals with musicians and singers.

Support special seasonal worship services, including Christmas, Easter, and combined services.

Select hymns, songs, and worship music for chaplain review and approval.

Submit annual and quarterly music selections as required.

Recruit and coordinate a minimum four-person volunteer worship team.

Coordinate with the Protestant Worship Service Chaplain, Protestant Parish Coordinator, musicians, singers, and A/V volunteers.

Arrive early for services and rehearsals to prepare, set up, and coordinate worship support.

Ensure setup and teardown of all music-related items.

Return the sanctuary to a neutral condition after services.

Secure chapel facilities after rehearsals and worship services.

Attend required staff meetings and Government-directed training.

Provide or coordinate a qualified substitute when unavailable.
