仕事内容:
Company: We are a Tokyo-based startup developing cutting-edge language learning courses, materials, and other products. Our company is motivated by a desire to change the language learning industry, to teach students in ways they have never been taught before.
Job: This is primarily a video editing (freelance) job. It involves video editing of various types of video, including podcast episodes, social media clips, YouTube videos, video of famous Japanese locations (shrines and temples), short films, training materials, course materials, studio recording sessions, etc. Editing projects will be for the purpose of social media, YouTube, as well as our own proprietary courses and training videos. Next year, we plan to start working in VR as well. Although we are a language learning company, we pride ourselves in excellent storytelling, with several members of our team having entertainment industry backgrounds (in Hollywood).
We develop courses and other instructional products to help people learn foreign languages. Right now, we are focused on products for English speakers who are studying Japanese.
Our courses help people understand both culture and language, thus we focus on interesting cultural differences and friction points, as well as the cultural context for language. Our courses and products take the form of audiobooks, podcasts, articles and, coming later this year, video and other media (such as VR). As such, much of our video work revolves around dialogue scripts and other scripts that will be performed by voice actors and actors, as well as the video and audio editing of these dialogues into lessons and courses. We also create short films to explain interesting things about Japanese and the Japanese culture (versus, for example, Western culture).

Requirements:
Video editing experience. Preferably experience with Adobe Premiere. We use Adobe Premiere in post-production, so access to Adobe Premiere is necessary.
C1 or better English (TOEIC 900+ / TOEFL 95+).
N3 (its equivalent) or better Japanese.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Recommended but not required: Audio editing experience. Design and photography experience. Translation experience.
Ideal: Video editing and audio editing experience, with an interest in design and photography. A strong interest in language, culture, and education, as well as a deep interest in storytelling. Someone who enjoys being analytical about language and cultural differences.
勤務時間・曜日:
This is a combination of hourly wage work and fixed-rate jobs. For example, payment for specific projects may be at a fixed rate, but if we consult with you about that project in an online meeting, we may pay you at an hourly rate. The amount of work can vary significantly depending upon our stage in product development and our development cycle. You will have the option to turn down a job if it does not fit into your schedule. If things go well, there will be opportunity for significantly more work, promotion, etc.

This work is very flexible and is generally on a project-by-project basis. Applicants would have the opportunity to turn down a project due to holidays, other work, etc.

給与:
Projects are paid at a fixed rate in accordance with the length of the source text. If you complete a significant amount of work and do it at a high level of quality, we increase the fixed rates. Generally, doing more work and doing it well will increase your pay over time.

No set contract period. Project-by-project basis.
Busy periods may involve over 20 hours per week of work, but this will depend on our product development cycle.
