POSITION TITLE: Chinese (Mandarin) Course Translator
REPORTS TO: Alpine Academy Director
DEPARTMENT: Guest Services / EAA
POSITION STATUS: Seasonal Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a skilled Chinese (Mandarin) Course Translator to facilitate seamless communication between Mandarin-speaking students and English-speaking instructors. In this dynamic role, you will provide accurate, real-time translation and interpretation during ski and snowboard courses, ensuring the original meaning, tone, and educational quality are fully preserved.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate and interpret course content live between Mandarin and English (and vice versa) for students and instructors
- Ensure all translations accurately convey the original meaning, tone, and instructional intent
- Proofread and quality-check translated materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity
- Use specialized dictionaries, translation tools, and reference materials to maintain high accuracy
- Collaborate closely with instructors, the administrative team, and students to meet translation needs
- Support the administration team with general translation, interpretation, customer service, and booking processes
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, outdoor mountain environment at either Happo One or Tsugaike
- Stay current with industry best practices and new translation tools through continuous learning
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Due to the dynamic nature of resort operations, you may occasionally be asked to assist with other tasks or support areas outside your primary responsibilities when needed.

PREREQUISITES
- Proven experience as a Translator, Interpreter, or in a similar role
- Native-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese and professional fluency in English
- Excellent proofreading skills with strong attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Familiarity with content editing and translation tools
- Ability to comfortably and safely keep up with ski/snowboard groups on the mountain (CASI, CSIA Level 1 or equivalent certification required)
- Previous snow sports teaching or instruction experience is highly desirable
