Camp Staff Job Description
As a member of the camp team, you will be responsible for leading a team of junior high school students through various activities that help facilitate the English they are learning in school. You will be running a specific group activity during the day and helping out with a group evening activity later on in the evening.
This camp is a specially designed program with a junior high school in Yokohama. You will team up with other staff to help 160 junior high school students prepare for their final year trip to Canada. English Adventure's main focus is to provide the students with a platform to use their English naturally and be in an international environment. There will be no Japanese speaking ability needed as we wish to provide the students with an English-only experience.
We are seeking hard-working, fun, and energetic English-speaking staff of any nationality.
English Adventure is a 100% non-smoking workplace.
Basic qualifications:
- Age 18 or older
- Available for all camp and training days for our Gotemba Camp
- Native, or highly fluent, English speaker
- Serious dedication to helping kids make the most of their camp experience
Pluses, but not requirements:
- Previous experience working with kids in a camp environment
- Previous ESL experience in Japan (such as ALT experience with elementary or junior high school students)
- Teaching or leadership experience in outdoor settings
- Enthusiastic and able to motivate groups to be the best that they can be!
September JHS Camp Schedule
Onsite Training: Arrival Sept 25 evening by bus (departure from Shinjuku)
Training: September 26 and 27 am
Camp Session: September 27, 28,29,30 (return to Shinjuku by bus on Sept 30 late afternoon)
Location: Tsunan, Niigata
Training will be held at our site in Tsunan Niigata. Attendance is mandatory for all staff. All meals, accommodation, and transportation during onsite training and camp session are provided.
Compensation
Staff will be paid 10,000JPY per work day and training day at camp. English Adventure also covers transportation between the Tokyo metro area and camp, food, lodging, and other regular expenses during the camps.
