Your New Role
This role leads social and digital marketing for Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming business in Japan. It owns the planning, execution and measurement of digital activity that builds awareness for HBO Max and its content slate, drives viewership, and converts interest into subscriptions in one of the most competitive streaming markets in the world.
The scope covers both sides of the streaming equation: our directly owned channels (HBO Max Japan social accounts, franchise channels such as Harry Potter and DC) and streaming partner marketing, where campaigns are planned and executed jointly with our distribution partners. The role owns the end-to-end social and digital marketing strategy, from campaign planning and creative localization through paid digital, influencer activity, reporting and budget management.
The most significant near-term expectation is the social and digital lead on the upcoming launch campaign for the new HBO original Harry Potter series. This will be a large scale 360 campaign for an IP that is a core pillar of WBD and HBO's success in Japan. The role owns the social and digital element of that campaign and is the lead day-to-day point of contact for the appointed agency across planning, approvals and execution.
The role sits within the Japan Integrated Marketing team in Tokyo and works in constant partnership with the Global and APAC social, originals and brand teams.
Your Role Accountabilities
Set the social and digital strategy for HBO Max Japan and related channels we manage locally, and own the content calendar across X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.

Localize global campaign materials for the Japanese market and develop Japan-specific ideas and activations that drive audience growth, engagement and sentiment.
Manage vendors across production, localization of video, stills, subtitles and copy, from translation brief through final quality control.
Plan and deliver joint marketing activity with streaming distribution partners, aligning campaign timing, messaging, creative and channel plans to maximize reach and campaign effectiveness.
Act as the lead day-to-day point of contact for appointed agencies, directing planning, approvals and execution while ensuring delivery against timeline, budget and creative quality expectations.
Work closely with Global and APAC social, title and brand marketing teams to localize campaigns, align priorities, secure approvals and execute market-relevant plans for Japan.
Manage approval processes across Japan, APAC and Global stakeholders, including titles subject to strict confidentiality and asset security protocols.
Represent Japan in regional forums and title marketing meetings, sharing campaign progress, learnings and recommendations while coordinating effectively across time zones.
Set KPIs for every campaign and monitor reach, engagement, video views, follower growth, click-through and conversion performance.
Produce monthly, campaign and title-level performance reports that provide actionable recommendations as well as performance insights.
Use social listening and analytics tools to track conversation volume, sentiment and competitive activity, turning findings into strategic recommendations.
Manage the social and digital marketing budget, track spend against plan and support annual budget planning with the Senior Director.
