Job Description

Applicants must

Be enthusiastic to teach
Be able to cooperate with coworkers
Be always open to new challenges.
Teach most subjects, including math, science, and social studies
Help develop the curriculum
Maintain all marking and grading
Fill out termly progress reports
Collaborate with other teachers on tasks such as building our program of inquiry, school events, and parent-teacher conferences

Type of Employment

Full-time (contract employee at the beginning)

Required Qualifications

English: native or business level
Teaching experience with grade school children
Bachelor's degree or above in general or elementary education (Not English as a foreign language teaching such as TOEFL)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Visa sponsorship available (Applicants must meet Immigration requirements and have a university degree)

Preference will be given to applicants with

Teaching license is a significant plus
PYP experience is preferred

Working Hours

8 hours per day between 7:00 and 17:00 on weekdays (shift-work)
* There is a one-hour lunch break.
Possibility to work overtime (paid)

Salary

Monthly salary from 360,000 yen (for 3+ years' experience). *Approx. 6-month probation.

Commuting allowance: Actual expenses (up to 30,000 yen/month)
Short-distance allowance: If the commuting allowance is less than 15,000 yen, 15,000 yen is paid as a combination of the commuting allowance and the short-distance allowance.

Holidays / Vacations

2 days off / week (Sat/Sun, national holidays) *May need to work on holidays a few times a year for events, etc. (Compensatory days off provided).
Approx. 140 days off / year
G.W. vacation, approx. 1 week
Summer vacation, approx. 2 weeks
Fall break, approx. 1 week
Winter vacation, approx. 2 weeks
Spring vacation, approx. 1 week
10 paid vacation days/year (after 6 months of consecutive employment) + 1 for each additional year
