This position is located at Club Iwakuni. Candidates selected for this position will serve as an Executive Chef.
This position includes a World Wide Hiring (WWH) package for the selected eligible applicant, which consists of Living Quarters, Post Allowance, and relocation expenses. Only current U.S. citizens are eligible for Living Quarters Allowance, Post Allowance, and relocation assistance. For those applicants currently assigned to MCAS Iwakuni or currently in a SOFA agreement, this may be not applicable. Applicants must currently physically reside in the U.S. to be eligible unless on official DoD orders outside of the U.S.
The initial length of this overseas tour for Iwakuni, Japan is three (3) years with potential of extending per management's discretion.
ADDITIONAL NOTE
- Effective 1 January 2018 all relocation expenses paid on behalf of employees or as a reimbursement are reportable taxable earnings and are now included in the IRS definition of compensation under Code section 415.
- Candidates selected for the position, who wish to bring their family members, and require services in the overseas location, such as medical or dental care, will solely be responsible for obtaining care and paying for costs upfront, and submitting claims for reimbursement afterwards. The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location. Please note that while civilian employees and their families are welcome to utilize military medical and dental treatment facilities, access to these facilities are on a space-available and reimbursable basis only, and services offered may be limited. Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers.

Major Duties
Primary function is to plan, direct, and coordinate food management activities at the various clubs and mobile units within the Food and Hospitality Division. Advises and supports club managers and Catering Manager. Oversees chefs and cooks in areas such as menu planning, development, cost controls, sanitation, food presentation and employee training. Must meet all objectives with little or no supervision. Work is reviewed in terms of overall accomplishment of established goals and objectives.
Reports directly to the Clubs General Manager. Develops standardized recipes and food specifications. Coordinates food service for protocol functions and coordinates control mechanisms to maximize labor efficiency and minimize expenses related to food service operations.
Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Monitors food programs on a regular basis and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives. Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance, approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must have a fair degree of physical strength and be capable of the below:
1. Twists and turns about the waist while standing and sitting.
2. Works effectively in extremely stressful conditions.
3. Performs repetitive physical task that may require the ability to lift 45 pounds and carry objects of
up to 20 pounds for distances of up to 50 feet.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a chef in a food service
operation; or a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible culinary experience in a
high-volume food service operation is required. Relevant education may be used as a substitute
for experience.
2. Extensive knowledge and ability to prepare and cook fresh, frozen, canned and dehydrated food
products.
3. Familiarity with carcass structure of beef, veal, lamb, pork, and poultry and the NAMP cuts
produced from them.
4. Knowledge of food/beverage cost control procedures and techniques.
5. Ability to write accurate recipes with clear step by step instructions.
6. Knowledge of applicable sanitation and safety requirements.
7. Must have the necessary social skills to develop positive relations with customers, VIP's and
visiting dignitaries.
