About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Banking to join a technology-focused team in Tokyo. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, technical leads, and QA teams to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyse business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, process analysis, and data analysis.
- Translate business needs into epics, user stories, functional requirements, and technical requirements.
- Analyse existing systems and workflows and develop clear as-is and to-be process maps, sequence diagrams, and wireframes.
- Collaborate with developers, technical leads, and QA engineers throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Define clear and measurable acceptance criteria, including Given/When/Then scenarios.
- Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Use SQL, BI tools, and analytics dashboards to analyse data, identify trends, and support product and business decisions.
- Help manage project scope, priorities, requirements, and trade-offs between business needs and technical feasibility.
- Serve as a key link between business stakeholders and technical teams.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role within an IT company, consultancy, SaaS, or financial services environment.
- Experience working within banking or financial services is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, Figma, or similar platforms.
- Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand API specifications, system integration flows, and database structures.
- Ability to write basic SQL queries and work with data to support analysis and decision-making.
- Strong requirements-gathering, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on banking, financial technology, or enterprise technology projects.
- Experience with UAT planning and execution.
- Experience creating process flows, wireframes, or system diagrams.
- Certifications such as CBAP, CSPO, or equivalent are an advantage.
